Settling In

Well we are getting settled in here in Guam. We are still staying at our hotel and will be until September 9th when we move into our new house! We are so excited about our house and can't wait to move in! We decided on a lovely 3 bedroom 2 bath house. Its got a two car garage, new appliances, and a huge walk in closet! We feel very spoiled! We also purchased a new vehicle this week (I've included a photo). It's a 1995 Buick and we purchased it for $1500 bucks! It's a perfect car to get Jarrett from A to B. We are excited for finally ship our other vehicle after numerous problems, and will hopefully receive that within the next few months! And then I will be able to drive myself around, since Jarrett is going to have to use the Buick to go to work. We are liking it a lot here in Guam. The weather is unpredictable, but you can always count on it being very hot and humid! It's fun experiencing new weather, after living with the always lovely weather in California. No Typhoons to report of yet, and hopefully it will stay that way! Guam is also a huge Japanese tourist location, so that's been another thing we have had to get used to. The language barrier and the fact that everything is written in Japanese is a little frustrating but we are dealing! Jarrett starts work on Monday, so I am looking for a job to keep myself busy. It's really hard for non-locals to find jobs here as I am finding out. It's understandable that the locals want to give all the opportunities to other locals, but it's frustrating non the less. Well I've attached a few pictures to give you a visual idea of our new home!

So good to 'see' you. I finally stopped procrastinating and started looking for a job, too. I need to be a little more aggressive, but I'm sure I'll get something. Glad to see you are settling in, and I'm really envying the house you will be showing us when you finally move in. I bet our house will fit in one of your bedrooms. We are in a very small place, but it's just the two of us, so it's good for us. But I would love to have another bedroom for guests, although, if you look at my past blogs, you can see we have been housing people okay with what we have. Miss you guys and pray things go well for you in Guam - and no typhoons.
