Little Man

Yes, we are having a boy! I have felt almost since the beginning of the pregnancy that there was a little boy in there, so it wasn't such a shock to me when we heard the news. Jarrett couldn't make it to my 20 week ultrasound, so I had the ultrasound tech right the gender in a card to be opened later on with Jarrett. When we opened the card, Jarrett smiled right away and I could sense his relief. I know he was secretly afraid to have two Kate(s) in one house! :)
Little man is quite the active one and was so active that we couldn't get a clear profile picture or picture of his nether region for the baby book. Maybe I drank too much orange juice that morning! But the ultrasound tech said she could definitely tell it was a boy on the ultrasound screen.
I am currently 21 weeks and feeling great other than the expected aches and pains. Baby is kicking up a storm and kicks most after I drink my morning cup of decaf coffee and around 8-9pm at night. Guessing he already has my stubborn nature as every time Jarrett places his hand on my belly to feel the kicking, baby immediately stops kicking. This amuses me greatly.
Here are some belly pics taken yesterday. The belly button has definitely popped out!

Updated Belly Pics

Here are some recent belly pics taken at 16 and 18 weeks. I'm almost 19 weeks and we will *hopefully* find out whether little Peanut is a boy or girl in only 13 short days! So far, I'm still feeling pretty great. A whole lot less tired and my appetite has returned to normal. Praise the good Lord this pregnancy has been relatively easy so far.

Peanut Boyd

The title of this blog really is the verse of my life. Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD,"plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." On December 5, 2010, Jarrett and I were shocked to find out that we were expecting our very own little Boyd. We are both excited for this new journey that the Lord is taking us on. His plans are far greater than our own and we can't wait to see all He has in store for us. As of today I am 14 weeks along and baby is due August 9! Here are just a few pics!

There is our little Peanut at 12 weeks waving hello!

It's the little things

When I think of what I am most thankful for, the thing that usually comes to my mind first, besides coffee of course, is my husband. There are many obvious reasons why I am thankful for my husband, but it is usually the little things that remind me why I am so blessed.
Here are a few examples:
Two nights ago, Jarrett kissed me goodnight just like he always does at 10pm on the dot. I decided to stay in the living room and work on some homework and finish up a program I was watching. A little over an hour later, I decided it was time to get some beauty rest and I began making my way to our bedroom. In the hallway, I noticed a light coming from our room. Funny, Jarrett must have fallen asleep with the light on. I opened the door to find my nerdy husband with his nose buried in his Kindle. He looked up at me with the goofiest grin. And I melted. I love my little bookworm.
Example two was just this morning. Jarrett's alarm started to go off sometime around 6 am. He went back to sleep, while I laid there awake. Why thank you husband for setting your alarm at dawn's crack and then proceeding to go back to sleep. His second alarm began to go off about 10 minutes later. This alarm happens to sound like a telephone ringing. Annoying? Yes. Well then, Jarrett picks up his phone and starts talking in it like someone actually called him. He says "Yes sir. I will be there." When he "hangs up," I ask him who called. He responds seriously, "I have to be at a formation at 6:10." I begin to freak a little and say, "but Jarrett, it is 6:10!" To which he tries to smuggle the grin that begins to appear on his face. I then respond with, "Jarrett John!" It's evil to play jokes on someone half asleep. But I'm more jealous that someone can be so happy and silly at 6:10 in the morning.
Oh, Jarrett. He can drive me mad, but who can resist someone with a goofy grin and a silly sense of humor? Not me, that's for sure.
This photo has nothing to do with this post other than it makes me roll on the floor laughing every time.

Little Ones

I love this picture. We were such wee little ones. Jarrett was getting ready to graduate high school in just a few short months; long black hair and all. And I was an over achiever in my junior year and hopelessly in love with a skinny rocker boy. Not much has changed. Although now my skinny rocker boy is a buff military man, and cute as ever.

To blog or not to blog?

Hello. Long time no blog. I've been too busy sipping tropical drinks at the beach with my hunky hubby that I have had little time to spare to blog. Or maybe I'll be honest and just admit, I got bored. Felt like I had little to write about and was generally uninspired. But I am determined to keep this blog going because I really do enjoy sharing our experiences with our family and friends. So here it goes...hope you enjoy my little bloggity.
